My brother gave a Commencement Speech at our old middle school yesterday and this was his introduction the MC read. I found this shit inspiring and quite genius.
Check It Out....
Isiah Guinyard is a proud product of DCPS. He is a student, mentor, hard worker, and a exemplar to many. He has made many great strides for his age, but is most known for motivating his peers and his community service track record.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Isiah grew up in the Petworth community where he also attended both Clark Elementary and Macfarland Middle School. He attended MacFarland from 202-2005. While at MacFarland he was involved in a variety of extracurricular activities such as Vice President of the Student Government Association and the Colin L. Powell Leadership Club. After transitioning from Macfarland, Isiah enrolled in McKinley Technology High School in which he graduated in 2009. While at McKinley, Isiah served as the Student Government Association President during his senior year. Along with being SGA President he was also a member of the Yearbook and Debate Clubs, Urban Alliance, Statistician and Manager of the basketball team and Student Athletic Director just to name a few.
Beyond Isiah’s educational success, he has also been working in the professional world since the sixth grade. In the sixth grade, Isiah began working for the law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath and became the youngest intern in the firm’s history. As a result of being the youngest intern, he was featured in the Legal Times, a newspaper distributed to law firms across the US. Isiah then went on to complete an internship at the World Bank where he worked in the Legal Department in the East Asia Pacific region where he was introduced to international law. During his senior year he was awarded, yet again, another internship with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, a well-known Washington law firm.
Currently Isiah is a rising sophomore at The Fort Valley State University in Georgia where he is majoring in Political Science and with a minor in English with a grade point average of 3.00. While at school he continues to work with the basketball team and participated in the Honors Convocation for Spring 2010 at Fort Valley. He is currently waiting to hear from either the Department of Justice or State Department regarding summer internship possibilities.
